Downpatrick is an interesting old town still retaining something of its 18th century atmosphere. The museum occupies the same hill which is crowned by Down Cathedral. The adjacent ancient fort of ‘dun’ gave its name to the town and countyof Down. The Downpatrick/Ardglass Railway Station is the perfect place for a family to enjoy an afternoon with a difference. Trains run on selected days throughout the year. There are many ancient ruins to visit in and around the town and Downpatrick will enthral and enrapture you as you embark on a journey through the centuries.
